From an Individual Hiker/Loop Walker

In September, I'll be participating in an amazing event called Hike the Park for Parkinson’s.

People from all over Maryland, Virginia and surrounding areas will gather together at Oregon Ridge Park on September 8, 2012 to make a cure possible for Parkinson’s Disease.

Parkinson’s disease is a progressive neurological disorder caused by the loss of specific groups of nerve cells in the brain. Parkinson’s disease affects people of all ages, but becomes increasingly common as people get older. More than a million people in the United States have the disease, including 1 out of every 100 people over the age of 60.

I've set my personal goal at $____, please help me reach or exceed that goal. You can give online by visiting my personal fundraising page [ insert link here]

[If you have a personal connection to Parkinson’s, insert here]

A cure is possible! I hope you will support me in my effort to raise awareness of Parkinson’s disease by sponsoring me in this important Hike.

Thank you in advance for your generosity!

Sincerely,

Team Recruitment Letter

We work together, meet together and have lunch together. How about we do something important together, like help find a cure for Parkinson’s disease? I'm putting together [Team Name] to hike in Hike the Park for Parkinson’s and I'm hoping you'll join me.

Hundreds of people will gather at Oregon Ridge Park in Hunt Valley Maryland on September 8. 2012 from 8am-12noon to raise awareness for Parkinson’s disease.  Monies raised from the Hike will benefit Maryland’s Parkinson’s Disease and Movement Disorder Center, located at the University of Maryland’s School of Medicine.  The Center is a leader in Parkinson’s disease research.

So far [list names] are on board and we're hoping to raise at least [$amount]. With your help, there's no limit on how much we can raise and the impact we can make.

You may be thinking, "Why should I?" More importantly, why shouldn't you? A cure is possible, in fact, a cure could happen in the next 10 years. How fabulous it would be to have a cure for a disease that affects 1 out of every 100 people over the age of 60? Together, we can help make it happen.

Let's get started today. To register, visit our team page [insert team link here]. Or, if you are unable to hike with us, please consider registering to be a volunteer. Or, simply show your support by making a tax-deductible donation.

No matter how you get involved, the important thing is that you are joining us to help make a cure possible.  Thanks for helping transform research into a cure for Parkinson’s disease.

Sincerely,
